 Libby Thaw, founder of the Checkered Eye Project, has low vision and is legally blind. Libby is a stay at home mother of four, raising her blended family in Saugeen Shores, Ontario with her husband Ray.
Libby is active with the Saugeen Shores Accessibility Advisory Committee, the sorority Beta Sigma Phi, and the town’s Christmas Toy Drive.
In addition to being a community activist, she is a writer, and entertainer.
In 2004, she was named “Canadian Blind Idol” where she performed a juggling and musical comedy act. She also enjoys performing music engagements with her ensemble "Libby and the Houseband", and her cabaret styled event called "The Libby Show".
In her leisure time, Libby enjoys sewing, juggling, meditation, and strolling in the forest near her home.
